Carly W:and Carly Wilson delivering the latest scoop from the digital realm. Perplexity has launched a new AI-powered patent research tool that simplifies patent searches using natural language queries. Traditionally, patent searches require precise keyword strings, but this tool allows users to ask questions like,"Are there any patents on AI language learning?" or"Key quantum computing patents since 2024." The tool then provides relevant patents along with AI-generated summaries for easier comprehension. It goes beyond exact keyword matches, including related terms such as"activity bands" when searching for"fitness trackers." Additionally, the tool searches a wide range of sources, including academic papers and public software repositories, to find prior art. This approach helps users uncover patents even when terminology varies significantly. Perplexity is currently offering this patent research agent for free during its beta phase. Pro and Max subscribers benefit from higher usage limits and advanced configuration options. Users can access the tool directly through Perplexity's platform by entering their patent queries. This innovation aims to make the traditionally complex patent search process more accessible and efficient.
Adam N2:Open A.I has introduced the option to purchase extra credits for its AI video generation platform, Sora, as free daily limits may soon decrease. Currently, Pro users get 100 free video generations daily, while others receive 30, but heavy users often find this insufficient. Ten additional video generations cost$4 through the Apple App Store, with credit usage varying by video length and resolution. Credits remain valid for 12 months and can also be used on Open A.I’s coding platform, Codex. Bill Peebles, head of the Sora team, admitted the platform’s current economics are unsustainable and anticipates reducing free allowances as user growth continues. Open A.I plans to be transparent about these changes as they occur. The company aims to build an AI-powered creator economy by adding features like clip stitching, leaderboards, and a controversial cameo feature that allows users to create deepfake avatars. Monetization options for creators, including charging for cameos of popular characters, are set to launch soon. This move comes as Open A.I shifts from a hands-off stance on copyright, responding to misuse involving fictional characters and public figures. Overall, Open A.I is working to balance platform growth with new revenue opportunities for creators. Grammarly, widely known for its automatic grammar checking, has rebranded itself as Superhuman. This shift reflects a broader focus on a suite of AI-powered products beyond its original writing tool. Recently, the company introduced new offerings including Coda, an all-in-one workspace, and Superhuman Mail, an AI-native inbox acquired earlier this year. They also launched Superhuman Go, a network of universal AI agents that operate across various applications. All these tools are now bundled under a single Superhuman subscription. Grammarly has a history of integrating AI, notably with its chatbot assistant GrammarlyGo and specialized AI agents for writing support and grading. The rebrand signals a push toward more"proactive" AI that anticipates user needs before action. The company’s goal is to bridge the gap between A.I's promised productivity benefits and real-world results. Amid growing skepticism about A.I's future, Superhuman aims for AI to become seamless and intuitive in daily work. Their vision is for AI to feel so natural users forget it’s even there.
Carly W:Getty Images shares jumped 19% following news of a multi-year licensing deal with Perplexity AI. The agreement allows Perplexity to feature Getty's creative and editorial content in its AI-powered search tools. As part of the partnership, Perplexity will enhance its image display by adding proper credits and links to original sources. Getty Images Vice President Nick Unsworth highlighted that such partnerships improve the quality and accuracy of information for consumers. Perplexity's search engine provides straightforward answers and direct links to original web content. The startup also offers an AI browser called Comet, available free worldwide. Comet competes with Google and Open A.I's recently launched Chat G.P.T Atlas browser. This collaboration aims to build a more engaging and reliable user experience. Investors clearly responded positively with a substantial rise in Getty's stock price. The deal marks a significant step in integrating premium imagery with advanced AI technologies. Nvidia C.E.O Jensen Huang is visiting South Korea for the first time in fifteen years to strengthen AI partnerships with major Korean companies like Hyundai Motor, Samsung, SK Group, and Naver. At the APEC Summit 2025, Nvidia and the South Korean government announced an expanded collaboration to enhance the country's AI infrastructure and capabilities. South Korea plans to acquire over 260,000 Nvidia GPUs, with about 50,000 designated for public AI projects and the rest allocated to major corporations for industry-specific AI development. Samsung revealed plans to build an AI Megafactory using more than 50,000 Nvidia GPUs and the Omniverse platform to optimize manufacturing processes in real time. The two companies are also collaborating on HBM4, a next-generation memory technology for AI applications. Nvidia will partner with Korean telecom operators to develop AI-RAN, an intelligent mobile network technology aimed at improving performance and energy efficiency. Hyundai and Nvidia will work together on physical AI technologies in autonomous mobility, smart factories, and robotics, supported by Nvidia’s Blackwell GPUs. SK Group is building Asia’s first enterprise-led manufacturing AI cloud using Nvidia’s simulation platforms, while Naver Cloud is developing a next-generation Physical AI platform for various industries. These significant collaborations reflect a broader push to fuse AI with hardware across multiple sectors, shaping the future of intelligent systems. Meanwhile, Nvidia's global partnerships continue to grow, underscoring C.E.O Huang’s vision of AI revolutionizing industries worldwide.
