Carly W:and Carly Wilson delivering the latest scoop from the digital realm. Open A.I's new Chat G.P.T Agent has demonstrated the ability to bypass Cloudflare's anti-bot verification by clicking the"Verify you are human" checkbox. This feature allows the AI assistant to control its own web browser within a sandboxed environment, performing complex, multistep tasks online. A Reddit user shared screenshots showing the agent narrating its actions as it completed this verification step while converting a video file. The agent explained it needed to prove it was"not a bot" to proceed, highlighting the irony of an AI passing a test designed to block automation. Cloudflare’s Turnstile system evaluates user behavior, like mouse movement and timing, to differentiate humans from bots before requiring CAPTCHAs. Although AI has defeated some CAPTCHAs before, Chat G.P.T Agent’s capability to handle these challenges autonomously and narrate the process is notably advanced. CAPTCHA systems have long been a web security staple, but as bots improve, their role has shifted to slowing attacks rather than fully blocking them. Chat G.P.T Agent can perform other tasks too, such as ordering groceries based on user preferences, showcasing its practical applications. Despite its prowess, the agent still struggles with poorly designed websites, revealing room for improvement. This advance illustrates both the potential and challenges AI introduces to internet security measures.
Adam N2:Microsoft has begun testing an experimental Copilot Mode within its Edge browser, introducing advanced AI capabilities directly to users. This new feature allows Copilot to access all open tabs, enabling tasks like comparing hotels or booking a restaurant. Unlike Google’s limited Gemini integration in Chrome, Copilot Mode offers more comprehensive browsing assistance. Voice navigation is supported, letting users ask Copilot to find information or open product comparison tabs hands-free. With user permission, Copilot can access browsing history and credentials to streamline booking reservations. These additions build on Microsoft’s existing AI efforts in Edge, including Copilot Vision. Sean Lyndersay, Edge’s vice president, describes Copilot as capable of organizing browsing into helpful, topic-based journeys. Importantly, Microsoft emphasizes that Copilot Mode is optional and can be turned off at any time. Currently free for a limited period, Microsoft plans to impose usage limits, hinting at a future subscription model. This initiative marks a significant step in integrating AI more deeply within web browsing experiences. Wyoming is set to become home to a massive new artificial intelligence data center near Cheyenne, expected to use more electricity than all of the state's homes combined. The facility, a partnership between Tallgrass and Crusoe, will start at 1.8 gigawatts and could expand up to 10 gigawatts. To put this in perspective, one gigawatt can power around 1 million homes, while Wyoming’s population is about 590,000. Cheyenne already hosts data centers from Microsoft and a nearly completed$800 million center from Meta. Wyoming’s cool climate and abundant, inexpensive electricity from fossil fuels and renewables make it an attractive location for such projects. The new center would have dedicated energy from gas and renewable sources to meet its massive power needs. Governor Mark Gordon called the project exciting news for Wyoming and its natural gas producers. While the substantial energy use raises environmental concerns, powering data centers with renewable energy may help reduce their climate impact. Although Open A.I is expanding its data centers nationwide, it’s unclear if this Wyoming facility will be part of Open A.I’s Stargate project. Construction approval is pending, but city officials are optimistic about starting soon.
Carly W:Vogue faced backlash after revealing the use of AI-generated images in its August issue advertising luxury brand Guess. The two-page spread featured a blonde model created entirely through artificial intelligence, with a small disclaimer acknowledging the technology. The ad was produced by agency Seraphinne Vallora, which specializes in creating AI models—digital figures that do not exist in reality. Critics expressed outrage, claiming the use of AI models undermines real people's jobs and artistic efforts. Social media users called for boycotts, condemning Vogue for promoting unrealistic beauty standards and harming mental health. Despite the controversy, Vogue's move reflects the growing normalization of AI in creative industries, from graphic design to film. Some observers hope a balance can be found where human creativity remains prioritized. The incident sparked debate about the ethical implications of AI in fashion advertising. While AI continues to spread, many remain concerned about its impact on traditional creative work. The controversy highlights a pivotal moment in the evolving relationship between technology and art. Google has introduced its AI Mode, an enhanced conversational search tool, to users in the U.K after earlier launching it in the U.S. AI Mode leverages Google's Gemini 2.5 model to offer detailed responses to complex questions and can be activated via text, voice, or photo prompts. Unlike traditional search, this mode performs multiple related searches simultaneously, synthesizing results across various data sources. However, Google acknowledges issues with AI hallucinations, where the tool may generate inaccurate information. Additionally, AI Mode has contributed to a notable decrease in user clicks on traditional search results. A Pew Research Center report highlights that users receiving AI summaries click on regular links almost 50 percent less often. Only one percent of users engaged with links provided directly within the AI-generated summaries. This decline in clicks raises concerns about reduced website traffic and the reliability of information sourced from AI search features. Despite its promise for intuitive multi-part queries, AI Mode's impact on user behavior and content accuracy remains under scrutiny. The rollout in the U.K signals Google's commitment to expanding AI-powered search, but challenges around trust and engagement persist.
