and Carly Wilson delivering the latest scoop from the digital realm. Nvidia C.E.O Jensen Huang announced at Computex 2025 a collaboration with Foxconn to build an AI supercomputer in Taiwan. The project will deploy 10,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, featuring infrastructure support from Foxconn's subsidiary, Big Innovation Company. This investment, worth several hundred million dollars, is smaller than Elon Musk's Memphis Supercluster but still significant. Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council will use the supercomputer to enhance AI cloud computing capabilities for local organizations. TSMC, Nvidia's main chip supplier, will also leverage the system for research and development. Huang described AI as igniting a new industrial revolution, with this initiative advancing AI infrastructure in Taiwan. Meanwhile, Nvidia is expanding globally, including plans for a new R&D center in Shanghai amid U.S. export restrictions. The company faces challenges balancing relationships between the U.S. and East Asia amid geopolitical tensions. Nvidia warns that cutting ties could empower rivals like Huawei, threatening U.S. leadership in AI. This project marks a major step in Nvidia’s global AI strategy and Taiwan’s tech ambitions.

A recent Gartner report warns that 75% of chief data and analytics officers, or CDAOs, risk losing their C-suite roles by 2027 if they fail to prove their value in AI strategy. The year 2025 is seen as critical for CDAOs to showcase their ability to implement AI successfully within their organizations. Sarah James, senior director analyst at Gartner, highlighted that CDAOs are uniquely positioned to lead AI initiatives due to their expertise in AI-ready data. Increasingly, CDAOs are reporting directly to C.E.Os, with this figure expected to rise from 21% in 2024 to 36% in 2025. This trend underscores the growing strategic importance of data and AI leadership at the executive level. However, Gartner notes that organizations are experimenting with different AI leadership structures, signaling a shift in how AI oversight aligns with business strategies. CDAOs are encouraged to develop specialized skills to enhance their leadership roles in this evolving landscape. They are also advised to make informed decisions about where to deploy AI and digital technologies to maintain a competitive edge. The findings come from Gartner's 2025 CDAO Agenda Survey, which included insights from over 500 global data and analytics leaders. This survey reflects the ongoing transformation in how companies approach data and AI governance. Apple was caught off guard by the launch of Chat G.P.T in 2022, prompting a rushed development of its AI features under the project named Apple Intelligence. According to Bloomberg, the integration of older Siri code with new AI technology led to significant technical difficulties. Apple’s software chief, Craig Federighi, along with AI lead John Giannandrea, began exploring partnerships with AI companies like Open A.I and Anthropic soon after realizing the potential of Chat G.P.T. Despite efforts, internal testing revealed Apple’s chatbot lagged behind Chat G.P.T by about 25% in accuracy. To boost its AI capabilities, Apple partnered with Open A.I, debuting new AI features at WWDC 2024, although some key features have been delayed until December 2024. Leadership struggles emerged, with Giannandrea criticized for lacking urgency and funding advocacy, ultimately leading to his replacement by Mike Rockwell. Conflicts between development and marketing teams caused Apple to retract promotional content when features were not ready. Meanwhile, a new initiative in Zurich is working on an L.L.M-based architecture called L.L.M Siri to enhance conversational abilities. Apple is also preparing for a major iOS overhaul expected at WWDC 2025. Internal morale remains low amid ongoing challenges and unclear communication within the team.

MSI unveiled its new MPG 271QR QD-OLED X50 gaming monitor at Computex 2025, featuring a 27-inch 1440p display with a third-generation QD-OLED panel. This monitor delivers 99% DCI-P3 color coverage, VESA ClearMR 21000, and DisplayHDR True Black 500 certifications, ensuring impressive color and contrast quality. It boasts a refresh rate of up to 500 Hz and an ultra-fast 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time. A standout feature is the AI Care Sensor, which detects human presence to adjust on-screen content and prevent image burn-in, powering down the screen when no viewer is detected. This sensor works alongside MSI's OLED Care 2.0 system, which employs pixel shift and logo detection to further reduce burn-in risks, backed by a three-year warranty. MSI also introduced the MPG 242R X60N, a 24-inch 1080p monitor with a Rapid TN panel running up to 600 Hz and a 0.1ms response time, targeting competitive gamers. Additionally, the MPG 27RURDFW E16M offers a 27-inch QD-enhanced Mini LED dual-mode display with a 4K/160 Hz or FHD/120 Hz switch and 0.5ms response time. Another highlight is the MPG 272URX QD-OLED, a 27-inch 4K monitor with a 240 Hz refresh rate and a 5-layer tandem OLED panel, featuring VESA ClearMR 13000 and DisplayHDR True Black 400. MSI’s new lineup emphasizes high performance, advanced color technology, and AI-powered features designed to enhance durability and user experience. Microsoft has rolled out a significant update to its Copilot AI, now incorporating Open A.I's G.P.T-4o image generation capabilities. This advancement allows users to create photorealistic images, edit their creations, transform existing images' styles, and render accurate, readable text. The update also introduces the ability to upload personal images as a starting point for further creative refinement, enhancing user control. Previously, Microsoft 365 Copilot for enterprise received G.P.T-4o's image generation features last month, with this consumer release expanding access. Microsoft's new image generation outperforms its Designer and Image Creator tools, which continue to rely on the older DALL-E technology. Despite these improvements, Microsoft faces criticism for delays and limited access to Open A.I's advanced models, as highlighted by AI chief Mustafa Suleyman. In response, Microsoft is developing its own in-house AI models to reduce dependency on Open A.I. The launch comes amid ongoing speculation about whether Microsoft can capitalize on viral trends sparked by Open A.I’s earlier G.P.T-4o features, like the popular Ghibli memes. This update underscores Microsoft's commitment to enhancing its AI offerings within its expansive tech ecosystem. Analysts note Microsoft's complex relationship with Open A.I remains a key factor in its AI development strategy.
