and Carly Wilson delivering the latest scoop from the digital realm. Warris Bokhari, after witnessing the pervasive issue of claim denials in healthcare, launched Claimable, a startup designed to combat this problem using AI technology. Bokhari, with a background as an ICU doctor in the U.K and experience in the U.S insurance sector, founded the company to address the lack of guaranteed medical care in America. Amid heightened scrutiny of the insurance industry following UnitedHealthcare C.E.O Brian Thompson's fatal shooting, Claimable aims for peaceful, productive solutions through successful appeals. With claim-denial rates climbing and 17% of in-network claims denied in 2021, Bokhari emphasizes the importance of patient advocacy. His firm has achieved an 85% success rate in appeal overturns by leveraging technology to generate appeals from clinical data. Claimable's platform is designed for autoimmune and migraine patients, supporting claims for over 70 FDA-approved treatments. Bokhari believes many regulators underestimate the frequency of these denials, which he calls private tragedies. Claimable's innovative approach ensures patients' voices are heard, securing investment from Walkabout Ventures and Humanrace Capital. The company contributes to Nvidia's startup program and operates with a compact team of eleven.

Open A.I may soon raise prices for its advanced AI models, as indicated by a recent report and comments from their CFO, Sarah Friar. The potential increase could see subscription costs soar to$2,000 monthly, eliciting mixed reactions from users. The company has already launched a new Chat G.P.T Pro tier at$200 per month, offering enhanced features and unlimited access to its AI models. This move reflects Open A.I's strategy to match pricing with the value it delivers, particularly for business users. The financial pressure on Open A.I is significant, with projections of a$5 billion loss and potential bankruptcy concerns. To counteract these challenges, Open A.I raised$6.6 billion from investors like Microsoft and NVIDIA. However, the firm faces pressures to transform into a for-profit entity, which might lead to significant restructuring. The increased pricing strategy aims to offset the high costs of developing its AI systems. As Open A.I navigates financial and operational hurdles, its pricing decisions could significantly impact user adoption and industry positioning. Forwarding emails to create calendar events might soon become obsolete, thanks to a new service called Fwd2cal. This tool, developed by Moe Adham, uses Chat G.P.T to automatically convert email appointments into Google Calendar events. Users simply forward any appointment-related email to the bot, which then parses and adds the event to their calendar. The setup process is straightforward: a user emails the bot and authorizes Google Calendar access. Additional email addresses can be added easily, enhancing convenience for those managing multiple accounts. Trust is a significant factor here, but Fwd2cal's open-source distribution allows users to review its code. Adham assures users through the privacy policy that only necessary information is processed. The service is currently free, though there is potential for future costs if it gains popularity. For now, Fwd2cal remains a dependable and efficient solution for managing digital schedules.

Microsoft Research has unveiled Phi-4, a 14-billion parameter language model, which marks a significant advancement in reasoning tasks with increased resource efficiency. Building on the Phi model family, Phi-4 integrates innovations in synthetic data generation, curriculum design, and post-training refinement. These enhancements position Phi-4 as a formidable competitor to larger models such as G.P.T-4 and Llama-3, especially in reasoning-focused tasks. The model utilizes high-quality synthetic data, crafted through methods like multi-agent prompting, ensuring a wide range of structured scenarios mimicking real-world reasoning tasks. Post-training techniques like rejection sampling and Direct Preference Optimization enhance the model's response accuracy and usability. Phi-4's design aims to balance efficiency and capability with 14 billion parameters, allowing robust performance at reduced computational costs. The model's efficiency and decreased inference cost make it suitable for practical applications. It has demonstrated strong results, notably in real-world math competitions like AMC-10/12, highlighting its practical utility. Phi-4 sets a benchmark for future developments with its innovative blend of efficiency and reasoning prowess. This approach underscores the potential of smaller models to rival their larger counterparts while remaining accessible and versatile. Open A.I has launched a new feature where Chat G.P.T can simulate Santa Claus, offering a festive experience for users. Santa's voice is now among the presets available in both advanced and standard voice modes of Chat G.P.T. Users can activate this feature by selecting the snowflake icon on the app's home screen or within voice mode. This feature is accessible across mobile devices, the desktop application, and web browsers, but it's available only until early January. Open A.I is easing voice limits temporarily, allowing a one-time reset for users' advanced voice limits upon their first interaction with Santa. Importantly, conversations with Santa are temporary and will not be stored in user history. This means the playful exchanges with the AI Santa won’t be available for reference in future sessions. Users are advised to remind their children that any past interactions with Santa won’t be remembered. This initiative adds a touch of holiday cheer while leveraging technology for seasonal entertainment.
