and Carly Wilson delivering the latest scoop from the digital realm. Apple's highly anticipated iOS 18.2 is expected to roll out this week, introducing a range of AI features such as Genmoji and Chat G.P.T integration. This follows Apple's incremental release strategy with the initial unveiling of Apple Intelligence features in iOS 18.1. The update aims to enhance user experience with tools like the redesigned Siri, offering a more natural and conversational interaction. Users can also expect improvements in writing and summarization tools for emails and messages. The Photos app will enable searches using natural language, bringing AI further into daily use. Chat G.P.T will be embedded within the system, offering an alternative to Siri for complex queries. Moreover, new creative features include an Image Playground app and a Genmoji generator utilizing AI for customized emojis. Visual Intelligence will augment the camera's capabilities, providing insights about landmarks and objects in real-time. Future updates, such as iOS 18.4, are expected to continue this evolution, focusing heavily on augmenting Siri's capabilities. The rollout could occur as early as December 9 or possibly later if following typical Apple schedules.

Open A.I's new AI text-to-video generator, Sora, is set to be available to the public today. Technology commentator Marques Brownlee released a video confirming its imminent release after testing Sora for several weeks. He described the A.I's capabilities as both"horrifying and inspiring." Initially, Open A.I released Sora to select visual artists and filmmakers for early testing. The tool allows users to turn text prompts into videos with customization and remixing features. Users can also convert photos into videos and weave multiple prompts into cohesive sequences. However, Sora faces challenges in generating realistic physics, with some objects disappearing or intersecting awkwardly. Additionally, it struggles with prompts that feature public figures and copyrighted characters. The launch is anticipated to coincide with Open A.I's"ship-mas" video release. This follows Open A.I's recent announcement of a$200 monthly Chat G.P.T Pro subscription and a full release of its o1 reasoning model. China is currently investigating Nvidia for potential antitrust violations. This inquiry focuses on claims that Nvidia did not adhere to conditions set by China when approving its$6.9 billion acquisition of Mellanox in 2020. Nvidia's acquisition reportedly lacked timely sharing of new Mellanox product information with other Chinese chipmakers. This investigation aligns with concurrent scrutiny from the U.S. Justice Department over similar monopolistic concerns. Nvidia has experienced a significant rise in market value, reaching over$3 trillion by 2024, driven by demand for AI chips. Meanwhile, the Biden administration has imposed new sanctions on China, targeting AI chip production capabilities. In response, China has introduced limitations on key mineral exports to the U.S. These moves signal escalating tensions and regulatory challenges in the global technology sector. The outcome of the investigations may impact Nvidia's operations and the broader tech alliance between the U.S. and China. Stakeholders in both nations await further developments in this high-stakes scenario.

Google has unveiled GenCast, a new AI-powered weather app promising faster, accurate predictions. The app is particularly appealing for photographers needing reliable weather forecasts up to 15 days in advance. Backed by a study in Nature, GenCast surpasses the ENS model by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. Utilizing four decades of data, the AI model outperformed ENS predictions for 2019, achieving a 97.2% success rate. GenCast also provides superior predictions for extreme weather events, including tropical cyclones. Despite testing against an outdated ENS model, its advancements are notable. GenCast produces 15-day forecasts in just eight minutes, vastly quicker than traditional methods. DeepMind's Ilan Price highlighted its computational efficiency, contrasting it with the costly conventional models. As AI models evolve, the practicality of such forecasts in real-world scenarios remains to be validated, offering potential benefits beyond photography. Overall, GenCast marks a significant leap forward in weather forecasting technology. Reddit has begun testing an AI-powered chatbot called Reddit Answers, designed to provide responses based on Reddit conversations and posts. The chatbot will offer users summaries of discussions and links to relevant communities, posing as an alternative to traditional search engines like Google or AI tools such as Chat G.P.T. This development reflects the significant usage of Reddit as a search tool on the internet, according to the company's vice president of product, Serkan Piantino. Launched in collaboration with Open A.I and Google, the chatbot has been in testing for six months, covering a wide range of topics, though excluding NSFW content. Initially, only a select group of users in the U.S. will have access, with plans for future expansion in languages and regions. This feature aims to enhance searching efficiency within Reddit, aligning with Open A.I’s recent release of Chat G.P.T search to challenge Google's dominance. Reddit Answers is seen as a strategic move to retain users on the platform by integrating AI technology to streamline information retrieval. The company confirms the chatbot relies on AI models from Reddit, Open A.I, and Google. Ultimately, Reddit Answers seeks to elevate user experience by making the search process more conversational and intuitive.
